Isla Margarita,
known as the "Pearl of the Caribbean", is the most developed of three
islands which form the State of Nueva Esparta, just off the Northeast
coast of Venezuela. Although situated in the Caribbean, Isla
Margarita is not in the hurricane belt. Due to its natural beauty
and tropical climate, it is a popular tourist destination.
Isla Margarita features dramatic
mountainous terrain, lush vegetation, flora and fauna, and many stunning
white sandy beaches. The beaches are not overcrowded. The
temperature averages to a consistent
80°F throughout the year.
There are numerous direct flights from
several global locations to Isla Margarita.
There are also numerous flights linking to
Caracas, a mere 35-minute flight away.
The east is flourishing with high end name brand shopping and
restaurants. Items are only a fraction of what you would expect to pay
due Isla Margarita's duty-free shopping. The west is undeveloped and
protected with interior mountains and exterior sandy beaches. This
combination gives tourists the best of both worlds on this sun-kissed
Caribbean island.
